Slack

Connecting Slack lets Time Trakkr reach your team where they already work: timesheet reminders and approval notifications arrive as direct messages, and anyone can log time or check their week with a slash command. One admin installs the app once for the whole workspace.

Installing Slack (admins)

The Slack connection is an organization integration, so it is set up by an owner or admin.

1. Open the Integrations page.
2. Under Organization integrations, find the Slack card. Its badge reads Not connected (or Unavailable if Slack is not configured for this server yet).
3. Select Connect and approve the Time Trakkr app in Slack.

Once installed, the badge shows Connected with your Slack workspace name. You can select Disconnect at any time to unlink it.

How members are matched

After the app is installed, Time Trakkr matches each member to their Slack account by their work email. Anyone whose Time Trakkr email matches a Slack account will receive DMs; anyone without a matching Slack account keeps getting email only, so no one is left out.

Slack notifications honor each person's existing notification preferences. If someone has turned a reminder off in their profile, connecting Slack does not switch it back on. See notifications and timezones for those per-person settings.

Reminders and approvals as DMs

With Slack connected, the notifications your workspace already sends can go out as Slack direct messages instead of, or alongside, email:

• Timesheet reminders on the schedule your admins configure.
• Approval notifications, such as a timesheet being submitted for someone you manage.

Which notices each person receives still comes from their notification preferences and your workspace's reminder rules; Slack is just another delivery channel.

The /track command

Every matched member can use the /track slash command in Slack. Running /track with no text, or /track help, shows the full list:

• Log time — /track 2h design for Acme yesterday. Give a duration (2h or 1:30), a project, a task, and a day (today if you leave it out). Add non-billable when the time is not billable.
• See your projects — /track projects lists your projects and their tasks, so you can copy the exact names.
• Check your week — /track week shows this week's logged time. Use /track week last for the previous week, or /track week 2026-07-06 for the week containing a specific date.
• Get help — /track help prints this message.

If Time Trakkr cannot match a project in what you typed, it says so and suggests running /track projects to see the exact names. If a project has more than one task, it asks which one to use.

Turning it off

Disconnecting from the Slack card removes the workspace connection for everyone. People keep receiving the same notifications by email, and the /track command stops responding until Slack is connected again.
