Rating an assistant answer, and what we review

Under every assistant answer there is a thumbs-up and a thumbs-down. They are the fastest way to tell us the assistant got something wrong.

Rating an answer

Click either one. Thumbs-down also offers a box for what was wrong, which is optional and is the most useful thing you can send us — "it missed approved leave" tells us something a bare thumbs-down never could.

Clicking the same button again withdraws your rating rather than reversing it, so a mis-click is recoverable and leaves nothing behind.

Your rating is yours. Nobody else in your workspace can see it, including administrators and whoever you shared the conversation with. If a conversation was shared with you, you can rate its answers too — you read them, so your opinion of them counts the same.

Deleting a conversation deletes its ratings with it.

What Time Trakkr reviews

This is the part worth reading slowly, because it is on unless your administrator turns it off.

We review three things:

  • The question you asked. The words you typed.
  • Which tools the assistant chose — whether it reached for the time report or the approvals list, for instance. Tool names are part of Time Trakkr's own code, not anything about your business.
  • Your rating, and the note if you left one.

We never review:

  • The assistant's answer. An answer states your figures in sentences, so it is the most revealing part of the exchange. What is useful to us is that an answer was rated unhelpful, not what it said.
  • Anything a tool returned. Your hours, clients, projects, people and amounts stay in your workspace. They are removed before anything leaves it, and the code that removes them is tested against exactly that.

Your workspace is identified by an internal id, never by its name.

Turning reviewing off

Settings → Assistant → Helping improve the assistant. Administrators and owners only.

Switching it off applies immediately to everything already collected, not just to what happens afterwards. There is no waiting period and nothing to catch up on, because the setting is checked at the moment anything would be read rather than recorded on each rating as it is given.

You can ask the assistant "is what I ask here reviewed?" and it will tell you which way the setting is set. It deliberately cannot change it — a privacy decision should not be made by asking the thing it governs.

What this setting does not do

It does not stop your conversations being saved. They are saved either way, because the assistant cannot follow a thread from one message to the next without them — that is what makes it possible to say "and the month before?" and be understood.

What the setting decides is whether those questions and ratings may be reviewed by us. We would rather say that plainly than offer a switch labelled in a way that implies something the product cannot do.

Your conversations are yours to delete at any time, from the assistant's sidebar.
